The Koko Bomb Saga

Part 1 — The Pumpkin Menace

Aaron, Robert, and Nancy Roof and gangplank
On Halloween, Team Muse lined up 95th among more than 100 groups who had gathered at Morgantown, WV, to hurl protectively packaged pumpkins off a gangplank atop West Virginia University's 11-story Engineering Building. The occasion: the American Society of Mechanical Engineers' 16th Annual Pumpkin Drop.

Entrants lined up Team 89 and their Eye of Death Trash pile by drop zone
The weather was perfect, and spirits were high, even as entry after entry (including group 89's attractive "Eye of Death")
joined the rapidly growing garbage pile beside the drop zone.

Nancy chatting with Entrant 78 Nancy and Aaron hoist the Bomb.
As we neared the building amid mounting tension, entrant number 78 spotted our Koko Bomb (the squat black cylinder trying to hide behind Nancy's red sweater). "Is that Kokopelli?" she asked. "I love him!" We wished each other luck. Finally our number came up. Nancy and Aaron hoisted the Bomb and headed toward the elevator, while Robert stayed below to document our fearless Kokopumpkin's descent.
