GABOOMBA Messages 1 to 100

The cathassus begins...

100.

Five days before the release of Kokopelli and Company in Attack of the Smart Pies (March 10, according to Amazon) there is a new VeggieTales video coming out called Duke and the Great Pie War.

Bizarre coincidence or carefully-plotted conspiracy?

Tchüs,

Duncan_Quagmire

98. Chasing the Sunset

Okay. There is a webcomic out there called Chasing the Sunset. {hence my subject line} It is a really good fantasy webcomic. I would rate it PG. The creators of the comic (Mithrandir and Alien) are looking for more readers. I think that many Muse readers would like this. (Cel and Juliet I know you will) Please go to http://dragons.falldowngoboom.org/ and read the comic. It is a story so it is best if you start from the begining. It doesn't take very long to catch up though.

Farewell and enjoy!

95. It SOUNDED like Cathassus

BAH HUMBUG!

A. It totally sounded like cathassus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is unfair. I feel...confused.

B. It's not my fault that they HAVE to have those-those INCOHERENT accents. Listen to Los Olivadios and see. Besides, everyone else thought it was cathassus too.

ALL THE SCRIPTS I'VE READ SAY CATHASSUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it's too late to change the name, and this is the WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

C. Greetings to the Doodle Queen. I like the pie week law. :P

D. I think it's cool that Cel has number 42 with 3 in a row.

E. grrrrrrrrr....have not gotten new issue yet. *growls*

F. I'm still annoyed about the cathassus-catharsis thing. Cathassus is cooler.

G. BAH.

H. It didn't bring peace.

I. HELLO? PEACE?

J. Whatever.

Z-I am going to work on the MM now. Let

Bunnily,
Queen Julietaini the Flamablamablous of Kiador

What does it matter where cathassus came from? You've unleashed it on the universe, and it's here to stay. How many 11-year-olds have made that kind of contribution to world culture? Besides, would you really have wanted a Web site called "Total Catharsis and the Mystery of Everything"? Google shows 494,000 references to "catharsis" on the Web. You belong to a much more exclusive club.

As for point E., no subscriber has the issue yet. Fan Page visitors get a sneak preview.

94. The Guide

A Letter From The Nonexistent But Still Cool Palace of Kiador
REGARDING THE GUIDE, THE MUSICAL AND THE TEE SHIRT

Here I am again. I do not know if Celebriän is familiar with cathassus. In all probability she is not. The entry is as follows:

CATHASSUS—The word comes from Flanders and Swann's monologue "Los Oliveros" in At the Drop of Another Hat, available somewhere. To quote: "What we have experienced here today is total cathassus." Total Cathassus and the Mystery of Everything is the name of Juliette's site.

Duncan_Quagmire's plea has been heard and responded to with a definite place on the list for the Muse Musical. Elassë-Adae's name has been changed. I hear and obey.

Please note that any other Musers who wish to have a place in the musical have only to notify me and I will add them to the list. There are still casting and character gaps for the places of:
Tenrecs A, B, C
a Black Hole
Hot Pink Bunny
Dogs {amount undetermined)
Cats (ditto}

I have appointed myself director of the musical, and after the script is completed {we're getting there) backdrops, camera, costumes and other paraphernalia will be dealt with.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU ARE HERE SHIRTS!!!!!!!!!

Queen Julietaini the Flamablamablous of Kiador
:P ^_^ =D

Thanks, Queen J.! (This place seems to attract royalty.) The matchless Michael Flanders and Donald Swann (singer-songwriter-comedians who were entertaining British audiences with their gently kooky humor about the time your parents were busy being born) certainly deserve their own entry in the HG2Gab.

For those who haven't heard it, F&S's sketch "Los Olividados" describes a bullfight-like spectacle building up to the ritual slaughter of (no less) an olive. As a factoid fancier, however, I must point out that what F&S were talking about, in their plummy English accents, was not cathassus but catharsis: a rush of intense emotion that releases almost unbearable built-up tension and brings peace. That's a good word to know, too, especially if you take A.P. English. You can read a transcript of "Los Olividados" (not as good as listening to it) at <http://www.iankitching.me.uk/humour/hippo/olives.html>. —MMFP WM

Where I live there is about 6 inches of snow. Where Parmandiriel lives there is one inch {or was one inch}; however our cities act the same causing snow alert type things.

Cel: Le hannon. I am glad to be flamablamablous. Do you mean there will be a hitchhikers guide to the gamboomba? If so I would be happy {heureuse{happy in french}} to do so.

89. Think Geek.

Thank you Cel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think Geek has many interesting things. If you would look on my list of quotes you will see that one of the t-shirts from think geek is there.

Speaking of good quotes I meant the list to have a link from the main gaboomba page and if people want to add on they can email the gaboomba

Cel you are flamablamablous for directing me to that site. It is highly amusing. I have seen both the "there are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't" shirt and the {front} "<geek>" {back} "</geek>" They should make shirts that say {ha} on them.

Calo anor na ven,

C. Mae govannen, Michal your cries for help {thau nin! ai! lasto pen nin!  &c.} will be answered just as soon as us perpetrators of this cathassus kno what the heck we're going on about.

Celebriän

B. Splendid word, Abigail, but it's spelled "eucatastrophe." I think J. R. R. Tolkien coined it in his essay "On Fairy-Stories."

To keep this message board from becoming too daunting for newcomers like Michal, I suggest that we all write a Hitchhiker's Guide to the GABOOMBA. I'll handle the entry explaining Molesworth. Celebriän can explain cathassus. Any other volunteers? (Juliette, by the looks of things, has a lot of explaining to do. ) — MMFP WM

Greetings from the Nonexistent But Still Cool Palace of Kiador!
A LETTER FROM THE QUEEN

1. The other Shaltanac's joopleberry shrub is always a more mauvy shade of pinky russet.
-Douglas Adams

That's all for the moment. Anyway, the MM is coming along nicely, with D.Lutz added to the cast. I was wondering-how does the GABOOMBA crowd feel about the Oxford comma? I don't use it, because we are taught to use it in class. Jolly good reason. I am sure Nigel wud agree with me. Is zich the opposite of chiz? I was thinking of sci-fi the other day, and TANSTAAFL (There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch) is kind of like WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) which is similar to RRR (Revolt Reform Rejoice) and maybe there are psychic connections between those.

Working hard,

Queen Julietaini the Flamablamablous of Kiador

84. cool!!!!!

Hey!

This is the first time I'm writing here...

The problem is, I don't have the patience or time to read everything from the beginning, so what ever...

Well, all I have to say write now is that

KOKO RULES!!!

michal

Welcome, Michal. Even if you did find time to read all the way down to Message 1, the mishmash of Elvish, 50-year-old English school slang, and arcane allusions might well defy comprehension. The Muse Glossary and Felicitously Answered Questions barely scratch the surface. Maybe some of the regulars will help. Courage, and good luck! — MMFP WM

77. STUFF OF DOOM

A.  Hi.

B.  This is my first letter to the GABOOMBA.  I feel special.

C.  Booooo!!!!! says I to the very un-flamablamablous person who gave muse a one-star rating at Amazon.com.

D.  According to bn.com , the Muse book comes out in April 2005 and is now called Kokopelli and Company in Attack of the Smart Pies.

E.  Microsoft Word claims that I spelled the words Kokopelli and Flamablamablous wrong.  It is stupid.

F.  MUSE-ical the Musical – sign me up!  I can just see it now – “For I am a pie-rat king!”

G. Random stuff I like: Muse (duh!), A Series of Unfortunate Events, Hot Pink Bunnies, Relient K, Five Iron Frenzy, Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, Adventures in Odyssey, Good Eats, Invader Zim, Redwall, 42, Acting, Theatre (spelled the British way, ‘cuz Brits rock!), anything written by Douglas Adams, Nintendo, Piano.

H. To Robert Coontz: do you choose what goes in quotations between the word “Robert” and the word “Coontz” on page 2 of each issue or does someone else choose for you?

I. Du blÖd Kuh means you stupid cow in English.  Just thought you’d like to know.

J. I don’t really have much to say here, I just wanted to put the letter J.

With all due respect,

Duncan_Quagmire

****Note to the webmaster: you can post my name as Duncan_Quagmire – it’s not my real name!!!!

Mae govannen, D_Q! Robert here. With regard to (D.), Larry has indeed renamed his book. He says even his editors couldn't remember whether the title was Pies from the Skies, Pies from the Sky, Pie from the Skies, or Pie from the Sky, so he changed it. With regard to (H.), I don't pick the nicknames on the masthead (the "cast list" of the magazine); usually the editor or an intern does that. I did enjoy being Sherlock Holmes and Gandalf, though. In general, I like the ones that require some research more than the ones that form a sentence when you read them from top to bottom. —R. C. a.k.a. MMFP WM

Your newe issue, whyche has yet to reacheth o'er to my door, is a subjeckt of great amusement to me, as my own dear pater is a Forensick Scientist, the CSO of IFI, an expert witness also, who can be found at www.ifi-test.com. Huzzah for paternity/forensicks, I say. IFI is the definite place to go if you need a paternity test or the like. For Dad.

E. Lo and behold! On said trip to the lande of the Britons, I have acquireth a complete collection of Nigel Molesworth. It was expensive, oweing to the fallacy of the dollar to the pound chiz chiz chiz. It matters not: I shall be Whizzing for Atomms and Topp of the Class when the winter break expires and I am Back in the Jug Agane. Potty.

If not you could ask for it for christmahanukokowanzaka or your birthday as it is $34 on Amazon.com (shiping fees from Romania is what makes it so expensive) But with I-tunes you can get the cd for $10 dollars. Thou art thyself though not a Montague

so Romeo would if he were not Romeo called
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
without that title. Doff thy name
which is no part of thee give all myself

67. Olde English

Hail, Musers!

One mistress Juliette, as I know nott (alas, for shee seemeth to have grete
Discernment), hath writ to thys esteemed Forum, I see, to aske yf I coulde
teache youe al to write Olde Englysh. Whych dismayeth mee somewhat, for I
had thoughte that mine Englishe was of the fynest and moste Modern, I takyng
grete Diligence to studye al the gretest Authors, as they are esteemed by
eminent men; as Mr. Shakespeare, Mr. Johnson, and so forthe. Yet it semeth
that another maner of spekyng and writyng now is chiefly used, the whyche I
confesse I finde somwhat base; for wheras it lacketh no Invention, that
Invention is turned to lytel Object. Wherefore it is at tymes like to rival
Babel.

No mater. My speche is considerd Olde, and I am content; for thus too am I,
sett againste the meane of this Forum. Yet it semeth som on youe woulde
learne a true maner of spekyng. Wherefore I can but recommend, children,
reade and copye. Take not upp Shakespeares workes, save to edify thy mindes;
for he is cover'd o'er with Artifice, as a gode Shipp is with paint and tar,
and he useth too manie wordes where one woulde do. That is meete in a
Theatre, but not for the buying of a pigg or a Cabbidge. Nay, take up rather
those scurrilous Papers, the whyche are sold at a penny at fairs. Therin
youe may finde discourse, poemms and ballads enough to bring fever to your
braine. I warne you to take no heede of the Content, but rather loke to the
way the wordes turne, which runneth after whyche, and therebye learne.
Reade, reade, reade, silent or aloude, and copye what youe reade, yf it bee
goode. Learne wel also youre grammer, and thus youe may convenientlye speke
Olde Englishe, as now tis called, in but lytel tyme. It requyreth not the
laboure of learning Spanishe. Nor the laboure of dealing with their Kyng,
neither. And yf stil it bee not olde enough for you, then loke to Master
Chaucers workes. Hee wil give youe pause in the reading of him.

Youre servaunt to commaunde,

Paul Baker of Swinforde

Hey musers, did you hear they might come out with a new sticker, i have no clue what's on it but it's sure to be flamablamablous!

Celebriän

You hear aright, O celebrated Cel. Brand-new, beautiful Fan Page stickers are on their way from Kokonino County and should arrive next week. Like the other stickers, we'll be sending them out absolutely free; all you have to do is tell us where to send them.

As for what's on them, we'll keep that a secret for now. (If you guess, we'll stuff twice as many of them into your envelope.) All we'll say is that it's not Kokopelli. —MMFPWM

57. flamablamblous

Alise-Adae-

my flamablamblous t-shirts consist of: a very orange 3/4 length-sleeve shirt with a peace sign(also orange); a black no-sleeve shirt that says "go VEGAN and no one gets hurt"(i'm not vegan, i'm vegaterian, but i like the shirt), and another black  short-sleeve t-shirt that says "greenfestival" and has nutrition facts on the sleeve(the facts are miniscule, but all of my friends at dance class decided to read them anyway, which was rather amusing).  by the way where in the universe do all you people live?, i'm in livermore, CA which is about 50 miles east of san francisco although most of my time is spent in the little worlds inside my head.

Konichiwa,

Tell Alsie'-Adae that I am not Abigail!  I'm just another person who went to Japan!  I confess, i spelled Fuji wrong.

Just to get this strait,  anime is moving pictures and manga is comic books.  Technicly you can't draw anime,  which means that LOTR fan art ban was usless.  (I think will get out of here before the people who can only draw manga personally kill me.)

Sianara,
Chinsu

Hi! Its me Chad, one of your fans! A.K.A=Kevin.P. Oh and by the way, Kokopelli is my favorite muse... And if he is president, I will be sssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Happy! And HOW THE HECK DO YOU MAKE HOT PINK BUNNYs ON THE COMPUTER???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to Muse's art department, the bunnies are part of a Japanese font called FREAKyBUNNy, which you can see and download free from the FREAKyBUNNy Web site at <http://www.ne.jp/asahi/24/fb/font_sample/fb_animark.htm>. To make a Muse Mail bunny, type the J key. The "hot pink" color is actually 100% magenta (hex code FF00FF). Now the secret is out, and the world will never be the same. —MMFP WM

hey people:

i don't care what other people think i still think Bo is a boy!! Even if "she" has an udder and all, it's hard to picture Bo as a girl. Just wanted 2 say that. And also, you might want something more 21st century than a fan mail pit. How about a "fan mail laser evaporater?"

Just an idea.

Dear Muses,

I love your mag! Its the best magazine ever written! I was wondering if you could do an issue on Star Wars, and one on the possibility of life on planets other than our own. If you don't put this in the magazine I will curse you and fuzzy pink bunny rabbits with big pointy teeth will haunt your dreams. MUAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA! (yea I know I AM evil aren't I.) C'est moi autre fois! Time to celebrate!

New article idea: Limericks! Thanks Jennifer for inspiration!

Also Juliette and Celebrian- "I have a Muse article on that" is one of my more commonly said phrases.

The math page is cool but I think an issue with an article on math would be even cooler!

Juliette- (again) I thought I was Zaphod Beeblebrox!

Sam- Thanks for the article
