Today Is March 31

Ergo, it follows that tomorrow is April 1.

If you’ve been on MuseBlog for a while, you’ll know that the First of April is a special day here on the blog. You’ll also know that there are always a few people who forget to come here that day and wind up kicking themselves for having missed it.

So unless you are into kicking yourself (and they do say it takes all kinds to make a world), you’d be well advised to show up at some point tomorrow. This is particularly true for Jadestone, POSOC, and a few other MBers, for reasons that will become apparent. (Anyone who is in touch with POSOC may want to give him a nudge.)

That’s all we’ll say for now.

A Q&A Reprint, by Request

Piggy asked to see the Q&A column from the September 2011 issue, which answered one of his questions but was published after his subscription to Muse had expired. As it happens, both questions in that column had MuseBlog connections. We’re a bit late in posting them, so, without further ado…

2013 Random Threads — Your Help Needed

With the New Year nipping at our heels, the GAPAs have been planning a theme for 2013’s random threads. We’ve decided to get back to our Muserly roots by devoting each month to a different memorable article or issue of Muse. Your comments on the blog make it clear that some of them linger in your minds and undoubtedly played a role in warping shaping your characters.

Of course, to do this effectively, we’ll need to know just which issues and/or articles those are. So… suggestions, anybody?

(That reminds us: the Muse Contents page needs updating. Any help from current subscribers will be most welcome.)

It’s Official: We’re Mostly Harmless!

Just for fun, we punched the Fan Page (and MuseBlog’s) URL into SaferPage, a site that tests websites and rates how safe they are for kids. The result: we’re safe, all right.

Screen shot of MuseBlog's rating from Saferpage

We’re sugar-free marshmallows, fluffy non-allergenic pillows, scratchless, biteless kittens and puppies. We don’t tag you or track you or run invisible scripts or feed you cookies. And our only signpost on the big, scary Internet is one external link on Wikipedia.

The best part of the report, though, is the list of keywords. Take a look:

Happy Birthday, MuseBlog!

It’s that time of year again: the very date on which our beloved blog erupted onto an unsuspecting Internet, to the discombobulation of just about everybody. It seems like only yesterday, and now suddenly we’re seven years old! Seven eventful years, and nary a squib in the bundle.

Expressions of dysphasic ecstasy and delirious incredulity will be most welcome, of course.

Chess: Robert vs. Everybody, Again — With a Twist: 1/2-1/2

As before, Robert takes on the world (or at least the world of logged-in MuseBloggers). The twist is that he will keep all of his pieces on “his” side of the board, the first four rows, unless forced across because it’s the only move available. White will be hunkered down for trench warfare; Black will have to go in and dig him out. Ready? Let’s go!

Chess: Everybody vs. Robert, 0-1

Ever get the feeling that the whole world was against you? That’s the idea behind this chess game. In a desperate ploy scientific experiment designed to see whether it’s possible to keep a game here moving forward to a conclusion, GAPA Robert Coontz is taking the black pieces and allowing anybody on MuseBlog to move for White. Trash talk, taunts, and analysis are encouraged. Let’s see if this works.

First move, anybody?
