My best friend introduced me to Discworld when I was in college, when I had pretty much given up on finding new fiction to read–most of what people around me were reading seemed to be soap operas in book form.  She lent me Going Postal, and from that point on, I was hooked.
I’m not going to try do describe the whole series here, since that would take way too long and I wouldn’t do it justice anyway.  What I will say is that these books have made me, and who knows how many others, laugh, cry, and think.  If you haven’t read them, I highly recommend that you do.  I’ve heard that Guards! Guards! is a good one to start with, but IMO, you can start anywhere, the chart below notwithstanding. (Click to enlarge)
